Photographywithjules: Daily captures

Excuse my 10-day hiatus. I’m still processing all the excitement that has been happening around here lately (I’m not pregnant, so please calm down).

I’m just as excited, if not more, when I’ll finally get to share the wonderful news with you all.

But for now, here are a few photos from our past weekend trip back home in Ocean Springs, MS.

If I haven’t mentioned it already, I loved growing up in OS. It’s always a treat when I get to hit up my favorite spots while in town.

I’ll just leave this and this here.

The iconic Lovelace Drugstore at the heart of Downtown Ocean Springs.

Fun fact: In high school I briefly worked for my aunt  while she was on maternity leave at a law office upstairs.

So I’ve been taking online photography classes since Christmas and finally got some real practicing time in. If you have the chance, then please check out Ashley Ann Campbell. Her blog, Under the Sycamore, is one of the very first blogs I started following about 7 years ago. She’s not only a talented photographer, but a total life inspiration. She’s just a really cool gal along with her husband and five beautiful children.

I took her iPhone online course about 2.5 years ago. It’s pretty basic lessons, but her tips and advice took my iPhone photos to the next level.

I’ve been eyeing her DSLR course, but never had one at my disposal until now. Thanks Nam!

Catching the morning light. . .

. . .and my obligatory dose of Tatonut. Of course.

This article says it’s the best in Mississippi, but I’m ready to argue they are

The. Best. Donuts. Ever.

The next few photos are at Front Beach during sunset.

Love the warmth and OS/Biloxi bridge in this photo^.

Khang thought this was overexposed and I agree, but I like the feel of the water^.

Captured the next morning at low tide.

Meet my newest niece: Bella Ann. Isn’t she just precious?!

My sisters, Jodie and Ginni, trying to figure out how to bustle Joy’s dress.

T-minus 39 DAYS till my baby sissy gets married y’all!!!

Glad I was finally able to put my newfound knowledge on ISO, shutter speed, and aperture to practice. I’m learning a ton, but having fun too.

I won’t lie though, shooting in Manual is a challenge.

Thanks for reading and following along,

with me

Jules.

  1. Awesome!! You need to teach me your photography skills!! That’s always been something I’ve wanted to do!! 😁 You are right…shooting in manual is tough! But seems like u are doing great at it!

    1. Thank you Mo Phuong! I wanted to learn for awhile now too and just started my lessons. I must’ve taken over 300 photos and ended up posting just those few on WithJules 🙃

I really like the online course I mentioned because it’s self-paced. I usually read over the material at the end of the day and practice on the weekends.

She does a great job at explaining the basics for beginners like me and YOU!
